Our Products have a Positive Impact on the World

We believe that by innovating in ways that benefit the planet, we can also help our customers, our business and the environment. It’s a principle that requires us to act intentionally.

By offering structural integrity and performance retention over many years, GFRP composites contribute to a more sustainable future by promoting resource efficiency and reducing the overall environmental impact associated with product replacement or the need for continual maintenance.

Sustainability is a core pillar of our mission, and we are proud to be well-positioned to improve practices and reduce our global footprint. We are not alone in this endeavor: the composite industry bodies and our strategic global partners are also actively pursuing sustainable solutions, making it a collaborative effort that we are committed to achieving together.

Quality Composites are Better for the Environment

In terms of composite sustainability, we already have a head start. Our GFRP composite components are designed with longevity in mind, making them the preferred choice for applications that require lasting and durable solutions. The fact that they don't rust, break, or release harmful chemicals into the environment makes them an eco-friendly option.

If it is made to last it is better for the environment. GFRP composites can be recycled by crushing and used as aggregate for concrete.

GFRP has a Lower Carbon Footprint than Steel

Composites are playing a pivotal role in driving decarbonization, thanks to their lightweight, strength, and durability, which positions them as materials of the future.

GFRP composites have a 15% lower carbon footprint than steel (comparison based on the manufacture of steel rebar).

Pultrusion Manufacturing a Low Energy Process

The low embodied energy of our manufacturing process ensures that our products are produced with minimal environmental impact. Minimal heat, water, and energy are used and the process is efficient, resulting in minimal waste.

The lightweight properties of GFRP composites (4 x lighter than steel) also contribute to more efficient transportation, further reducing the carbon footprint.

Reducing our Global Footprint at Pultron

We actively work towards reducing our environmental impact at Pultron.

Our sustainability goals for Pultron in 2023.

  • In manufacturing, we aim to reduce waste intensity and increase the use of recycled materials across all our businesses.
  • Product innovation plays a central role in waste reduction. We are looking at a variety of ways to use any waste as part of the circular economy.
  • We encourage our people to help us discover new ways to increase efficiencies in our processes, while product stewardship ensures transparency and commitment to sustainability.

Working Together for a Sustainable Future

End-of-life solutions are crucial to our sustainability journey. We are actively seeking innovative technologies and business models to reuse and repurpose our products and materials indefinitely. This includes collaborating with internal and external partners to shape our vision and execution in this area.

Ultimately, our commitment to the circular economy model is the cornerstone of our sustainability journey. It drives our waste management strategies, product innovation, and stewardship, and serves as the foundation for our plans for sustainable growth. This long-term approach will not only benefit our people and customers but also contribute to the well-being of the global community.

We are excited and optimistic about the positive impact we can make together.
